Kerala: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a fresh western disturbance set to impact the Western Himalayan Region starting from the night of December 7.

This disturbance is expected to bring isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the region from December 7 to 9. The adjoining plains of Northwest India are likely to experience similar weather conditions on December 8.

In addition, the IMD reported that the well-marked low-pressure area over Coastal Karnataka and the adjoining east-central Arabian Sea has persisted in the same region. This system is anticipated to move west-northwestwards over the east-central Arabian Sea in the next two days. It is expected to maintain its intensity for the next 24 hours before gradually weakening.

The IMD has issued rainfall alerts for various regions:

North Kerala: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places on December 3, with a reduction in intensity thereafter.
Tamil Nadu: Heavy rainfall is likely in isolated places over the ghat districts on December 3.
Coastal Karnataka: Heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated places on December 3.
South Interior Karnataka: Heavy rainfall is expected in the ghat areas on December 3.

Temperature forecasts indicate no significant changes in minimum temperatures over Northwest, Central, and East India, as well as Maharashtra, for the next two days. A gradual fall by 2-4°C is expected thereafter.

Conversely, a rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is forecasted for the Gujarat region over the next three days, followed by a gradual fall by 3-4°C.
