Ganjam : The global egg day has been celebrated in the town hall conference hall of BeMC on Friday last by the district administration in the hundred of fisheries, animal husbandry and poultry farmers. The chief District Agriculture officer Dillip Kumar khuntia attended as the chief guest while the LEAD Bank Manager Ashok Kumar Panda and state poultry federation member D. Biswanath attended as the guest of honour and described the aims and objectives of the celebration of World Egg Day and encouraged the farmers concerned to enhance their cultivation with cooperation of the Banks and avails different welfare schemes declared by the Govt department concerned. It was said that about 27 lakhs of eggs were being breed per day during 2019-20 in the district. But now in 2022 the production of eggs has been enhanced by 6 lakhs and it is 33 lakhs per day which is about 22.22% hike at a stretch. This has been possible by encouraging the farmers for 1000 & 2000 layers for the small farmers and 200 layers for the SHG woman throughout the district. The Chief District A & H Officer Dr Debaraj Behera, Dr Sneha mayee Panda coordinated the Programme. During the Occasion the children of Dharakote and Berhampur Shelter homes were provided with Lunch and the Students of Schools under Bhanjanagar and Chatrapur block were provided with the knowledge of the protein and calcium quantities in eggs which is badly needed for the health of the children.
