Rourkela : The concluding function of the New Born Week was organised at Ispat General Hospital of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 21st November. Dr. N P Sahoo, CMO (M&HS) presided over the function. Present on the occasion were Dr. J K Acharya, Additional CMO (M&HS), Dr. (Mrs) Pushpa Kumari, Additional CMO, Mr. G R Dash, GM (Personnel) and other Doctors, Medical Staff and Nursing students. The programme was attended by couples with new born babies born in IGH.
The awareness programme was based on a skit enacted by the nursing students of IGH in which they highlighted the importance of breast feeding, proper ways of breast feeding, neo natal care and the need of periodic health interventions like vaccination etc.
The main aim of the programme was to create awareness to reduce infant mortality, minimize the risk of illness and maximize the growth and development. The theme chosen for this year’s celebration was “Home Care of New Born in Urban areas.’ The programme was organised under the aegis of IAP (Indian Academy of Paediatrics), Sundargarh Branch. The week was observed between 15th to 21st November.
At the outset Dr. (Mrs.) Archana Behera, Deputy CMO welcomed the gathering and gave a brief about the programme. Dr. Poonam Ekka, Consultant proposed a formal vote of thanks.
