Rourkela : SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has bagged the Energy Conservation Award in the Eastern region ENCON Award 2022 competition held in November by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). RSP was adjudged with 4.5 star energy rating which is best ever for RSP and also best in SAIL.
In a function held at the office of DIC on 5th December 2022 Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP handed over the ENCON Award Certificate to Mr. P S Kannan, CGM (EMD), Mr. Abit Santosh Khakha, GM (EMD), Mr. B.P.Pandey, AGM (EMD) and his team.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Bhowmick, commended the efforts of the Energy management Department in reducing Specific energy consumption pattern of the plant which has led to huge cost savings.
The assessment process has undergone through submission of application, presentation on energy performance and energy conservation projects implemented during previous financial year. It was possible due to consistent effort of RSP collective towards reducing specific energy consumption and thereby reducing carbon footprint. RSP has achieved best ever specific energy consumption of 5.99 Gcal/ TCS in FY 2021-22 which is also best among all SAIL plants.
