Puri: Amid much hue and cry over reopening of four doors of Puri Srimandir, Odisha Law Minister Jagannath Saraka today came out with a positive statement saying that doors will be reopened keeping in view the need of the devotees.
On the sidelines of an event in Puri, Saraka said the district authorities and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will take a decision this regard at right time. The decision will be taken on the demand and requirement of general public, he told media.
Three doors of the shrine had remained closed since Covid lockdown period. Several outfits have been demanding reopening of all doors for convenience of devotees.
Devotees are now allowed to enter the temple only through Singhadwar While the west gate, which was recently reopened, is meant for the entry of local residents.
Two other gates -Ashwa Dwara or Horse Gate on South side and Hasti Dwara or Elephant Gate on North side are still closed.
Earlier, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra had also joined the devotees in demanding reopening of all doors of the temple.
