Balangir: All schools and Anganwadi centres in Odisha’s Balangir district have been closed for today in view of the heavy rainfall in the region.
“In view of heavy to very heavy rainfall and Orange warning up to 08.30 AM of 15.09.2023 as issued by IMD and Office of the Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha for Balangir District, all Govt. and Private Schools and Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) shall remain closed today on Dt. 14.09.2023,” an office order issued by the office of the District Collector said.
Several districts of Odisha are likely to receive heavy rainfall today under the influence of a well marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.
The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for many districts of the state for today.
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Nawarangpur and Ganjam.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Cuttack and Angul.
