Bhubaneswar: On the eve of Ganesh Puja, the Energy department in Odisha has issued an advisory for the committees organising the festival on public places.
In its advisory, the Energy department has asked the Ganesh Puja committees to maintain safe distance from live wires while erecting their pandals.
The advisory also asked the Puja panels to seek advice from the Energy department to avoid any untoward incident during the festival.
It is mandatory for the Puja committees to go for safety-related inspection at their pandals by the officials of Energy department, said the advisory.
Hundreds of committees and clubs across the state organise Ganesh Puja with much fervour.
The Ganesh Puja committees cities like Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur erect huge pandals to celebrate the festival.
“The Puja pandals in urban areas of the state usually attract huge footfalls. So, it is mandatory for the Puja panels to take the necessary steps to avoid any electricity-related mishap during the festival,” said an official.
