Baripada: In a significant development in the case of death of Sachin Kumar Sahoo, a final year MBBS student (House Surgeon) of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Odisha’s Baripada town, police have questioned his female friend on the basis of a complaint lodged by the deceased’s father.

Cops have also seized her mobile phone and laptop for further probe.

Raising suspicion over Sachin’s classmates, his father Gyanendra Sahoo has filed the complaint with the Baripada Sadar police claiming that they know about the reason behind the alleged suicide. Subsequently, a case was registered in this connection.

As per reports, Sachin was in a relationship with the girl, an MBBS student of the college, for the last five years. Family members of the two were aware of the relationship and had also agreed for their marriage.

While being questioned by cops at the police station, Sachin’s female friend mentioned that disputes were going on between them over trivial matters while a similar quarrel also took place on the fateful day. However, she expressed shock over the fact that Sachin could take the extreme step over the petty matter, reports said.

If necessary, other friends of Sachin will be questioned, said Baripada Sadar police station IIC Madhumita Mohanty.

As Sachin had made the last phone call to the girl before his death, police have seized her mobile phone and laptop for investigation.

Notably, Sachin was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his hostel room on September 22 evening. His body was found hanging from the ceiling fan, for which it is being suspected that he died by suicide.
