Konark: Incensed residents in Nimapara Assembly constituency vented their resentment by burning the effigy of former Minister and local MLA Samir Ranjan Dash today when he was on his way to Bedpur panchayat to inaugurate a Kothaghar in Puri district.

The irate locals also shouted slogans against the BJD leader and showed him black flags in the presence of hundreds of policemen, who were deployed to manage the law and order situation.

According to a source, the MLA faced the resentment of people due to the alleged pseudo-development that he has done in his Assembly constituency segment over the past several years.

Tension flared up following the incident and an altercation erupted between a few of his supporters and the agitating residents as many of the agitators shouted ‘Samir Dash Murdabad’.

It is pertinent to mention, several BJD ministers are being shown black flags and hurled eggs these days.

Youth Congress workers allegedly hurled eggs at vehicles in which three BJD MLAs were travelling and showed them black flags at Narla in Kalahandi district on September 5.

Junagarh MLA Dibya Shankar Mishra, Narla MLA Bhupinder Singh and Lanjigarh MLA Pradip Kumar Dishari were travelling together in the car to attend a programme organised by the District Primary Teachers’ Association at Narla on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
