Bhubaneswar: A Havildar of Odisha police and five others have been arrested over ganja smuggling in the state.
Havildar Bijay Sahu of Tarabha police and five others have been arrested by Balangir Town police in connection with ganja smuggling in the state, sources said.
According to sources, the Havildar and his aides were involved in illegal ganja trade in and outside Odisha.
Balangir police came to know about Havildar Bijay Sahu’s involvement on ganja smuggling after they nabbed four persons who were transporting the contraband to Raygada through a train today.
Havildar Bijay Sahu is the mastermind of this ganja smuggling racket, police said.
“Havildar Bijay Sahu has been involved in illegal ganja trade since many days. But, the police got concrete information on his involvement in the illegal trade after they arrested four persons with the contraband today,” said a source in Balangir police.
