VIMSAR medical student, security guard sustain injuries after fight – N.F Times

Sambalpur: Tension erupted at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla during the early hours of Thursday, as a postgraduate student and a security guard sustained injuries following a heated altercation.

According to reports, an exchange of words between a postgraduate student and a security guard escalated into a physical confrontation, although the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear. During the altercation, the security guard suffered injuries.

Later, the injured guard’s brother arrived at the scene and retaliated against the student, causing further injuries.

The situation quickly escalated as several postgraduate students organized a demonstration to demand the removal of the security company responsible for the guards.

In response to the escalating tension, the Inspector in Charge (IIC) of the Burla police station, along with a team of officers, reached the campus in an attempt to diffuse the situation and pacify the agitated students.

“We are aware of the incident. I have met the injured student, whose condition is stable. The students are calling for the removal of the security organization, and we will make a decision after discussing the matter with both parties. Additional police personnel have been deployed to prevent further escalation of the situation,” said VIMSAR Superintendent Lalmohan Nayak.
