Bhadrak: A group clash broke out on the premises of the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital leaving a man seriously injured, last night.
The victim was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The clash was a fallout of a land dispute, reports said.
According to information, some miscreants had issued threats to Subhakanta Pati, proprietor of a local hotel, and planned to murder him.
As per their plan, they assaulted Pati at around midnight. The incident then sparked a clash between the assailants and Pati’s supporters.
The situation worsened after the injured one was hospitalized as both groups once again got engaged in a violent confrontation on the hospital premises.
In response to the escalating situation, the Bhadrak police resorted to a mild lathi charge to take the situation under control. Five platoons of police forces were deployed on the hospital premises to avoid any further untoward incident.
“The group clash erupted due to a dispute over a piece of land I had purchased in Charampa area. I had filed a complaint about this matter at the Bhadrak Town police station. Unfortunately, no action was taken, which led to this unfortunate situation. They had also previously attacked us,” said Pati.
Bhadrak City DSP Anshuman Dwivedi said, “To maintain peace in the area, as many as five platoons of police forces have been deployed on the hospital premises. We have also sought the assistance of nearby police stations to ensure the situation remains under control.”
