Now, all 30 districts in Odisha have virtual branches of High Court – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: Virtual centres of Orissa High Court were inaugurated in 10 more districts of the state today.

With this, now all 30 districts of the state have virtual centres of Orissa HC.

Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, the acting Chief Justice of Orissa HC, today inaugurated virtual centres of the court in Bargarh, Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Sonepur districts through videoconference.

Other judges of Orissa HC, Advocate General of Odisha and Judicial Officers were present on the occasion.

Delivering the welcome address, Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra, Chairman of the IT & AI Committee of the High Court, said establishment of the Virtual High Courts in the districts is a stride forward in ensuring justice at the doorstep. He shared the statistics of the Virtual Courts established and said it is an experiment on the part of the High Court with the use of technology which will ultimately result in narrowing the gap and strengthening the open court system.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sarangi said Virtual High Courts were opened in all 30 districts to improve access to justice for the people of Odisha. Apart from enabling the District Court lawyers to take part in filing and hearing of cases, the Virtual Courts will reduce costs to the litigants, increase efficiency and ensure speedy justice. The Virtual Courts will accelerate the adaptation of technology in the judiciary in the country, he added.

Justice Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi, Member of the IT & AI Committee of the High Court proposed the vote of thanks.

Notably, Odisha is the first state in India to have virtual centres of the HC in all districts.
