Jharsuguda: Ravan Podi Mahotsav which was being organised every year for the last four decades will not be witnessed this year in Jharsuguda town as this district Administration disallowed organisation of the event today and did not accord permission to hold the same on Manmohan ME school playground here.
According to a source, this was the fallout of political contention between two rival factions of supporters of Jharsuguda MLA Dipali Das and Brajarajnagar MLA Alaka Mohanty. After controversy over organisation of the event erupted, the Jharsuguda district Administration apprehended that the law and order situation could be disturbed. Hence, the Administration took this step to be on the safe side.
Worth mentioning, Ravan Podi Mahotsav is usually organised at two different places in the town.
A poster war was brewing pertaining to the event which was supposed to be organised at the school playground. The posters put up by supporters of both legislators contained their names and photos on them.
