Former Odisha Assembly Speaker Maheswar Mohanty hospitalised – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and former Odisha Assembly Speaker Maheswar Mohanty was hospitalised after he fell sick last night.

The former minister was admitted to a private hospital at Chandrasekharpur area in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, Mohanty had graced various events in Puri yesterday. He felt uneasy at his residence after attending Gajalakshmi Puja celebration at Badashankha area.

Sources said that he started trembling due to illness following which he was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

“Maheswar Mohanty visited the hospital due to illness. However, his health condition is well now,” informed Puri Town BJD President Sabyasachi Mohapatra.

Notably, Mohanty visits the private hospital in Bhubaneswar once or twice a month for regular health check-ups. Last month, he was admitted to the hospital for a couple of days for treatment for health-related issues.

The former five-time MLA from Puri Assembly Constitueny had served as the Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly from 21/05/2004 to 31/03/2008. He had also held key portfolios in Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet as minister.
