Bhubaneswar: There is a piece of good news for people planning to visit this year’s Bali Yatra in Odisha’s Cuttack city.

A tunnel aquarium will be the main attraction of this year’s Bali Yatra. A private agency from Tamil Nadu has been roped in to bring its mobile tunnel aquarium to Bali Yatra, the biggest trade fair in Odisha.

The tunnel aquarium will be placed near Akshaya Mohanty Mancha at the fairground. People can visit the aquarium by paying around Rs 100/150 per head, sources added.

The private agency will deploy at least 28 trucks to bring the components of the mobile tunnel aquarium to Cuttack.

The skilled manpower of the agency will take around 15 to 20 days to assemble the 200-foot-long tunnel aquarium.

“The aquarium will need 50,000 litres of water. It will have fish and other aquatic creatures worth around Rs 12 lakh. The visitors will have the opportunity to watch shark, whale, octopus and many other marine species at the aquarium,” said a source.

The annual trade fair will kick off on the banks of Mahanadi river on November 27. It will continue till December 4, said an official of the Cuttack district administration.

Notably, the trade fair is organised in the Silver City to celebrate the glorious maritime history of Odisha.

Traders from across the country, corporate houses and government agencies usually open their stalls at the fair.

Thousands of people from several districts of Odisha visit the fair to buy household goods, decorative pieces and wooden items among other things.

Hundreds of food stalls also come up at the fair to serve varieties of cuisines to the people.

The state government had accorded the state festival tag to Bali Yatra a few years ago.
