Sundarpada: A man allegedly raped and killed a minor girl at Kela Sahi slum in Sundarpada area of Odisha capital on Monday evening.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Ghania of the locality, entered the house of the deceased while her parents had gone to workplace.
He went near the girl on the pretext of giving her candies. The accused then allegedly raped the girl.
As the victim tried to scream for help, Ghania murdered the girl by slitting her throat. He later absconded to evade arrest.
As the parents of the girl returned home, they found their daughter lying in a pool of blood. Though they rushed her to a hospital, she was declared dead by doctors.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the parents of the girl, the Airfield police have registered a case and started investigation into the matter. A manhunt has been launched to trace and nab the accused.
