Bhubaneswar: A Plus-III second year student was stabbed to death by three miscreants at Odisha’s Rayagada town today.

The deceased has been identified as Pramod Kalaka, a student of Rayagada Autonomous College.

The incident took place while Pramod was returning to his rented accommodation on a scooter after dropping his cousin sister in a nearby school around 11 am in the morning.

The miscreants intercepted Pramod and stabbed him repeatedly before fleeing the spot. Pramod succumbed to his injuries immediately.

On being informed, Rayagada SP Vivekanand Sharma, SDPO Rashmi Ranjan Senapati and Rayagada town police IIC BK Kanhar reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident. A scientific team has been called in to assist in the investigation.

“Some people had threatened to kill Pramod three days ago. He had informed this to me. But, we did not take the incident seriously. I have lodged an FIR with police,” said Pramod’s uncle Gangadhar Puala, a former chairman of Rayagada Zilla Parishad.

Rayagada SP said love affair was the reason behind the murder. “The police have arrested two persons in connection with the incident while another accused has absconded. Steps are being taken to nab the absconded accused,” he added.
