Deogarh: Police have arrested as many as four men for allegedly kidnapping a businessman’s minor daughter in Odisha’s Deogarh town, an official said today.
The accused have been identified as Himanshu Narang, Deepak Nayak, Rohit Patra and Maheswar Sagadia of Deogarh district.
Cops have recovered a car, two motorcycles and four mobile phones from their possession. The four-wheeler was used by them for abducting the six-year-old girl.
A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the IPC while further probe was underway by the police.
“The four accused had hatched a plan to kidnap the girl in order to demand Rs 2 crore as ransom. They had planned to divide the amount among them equally to lead a luxurious life,” said Deogarh SP Pradyumna Kumar Mishra.
Notably, the accused had allegedly abducted the child in Deogarh town on December 18 evening while she was returning home from tuition classes with her grandmother.
Next day, a woman spotted the girl crying near a bridge in Badagaon area of Sundargarh district as the kidnappers abandoned the child in fear of getting caught by the police.
