Bhubaneswar: Odisha Girls and Boys teams once again shined and brought laurels for the State in the 3rd National East Zone U-14 Roll Ball Championship held on 29th-30th Dec 2023 at JRD Sports Complex, Tata of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
The Boys Team were the 1st Runners-up and won the Bronze Medal for the State by defeating Chhattisgarh with 3-2 goals.
The Girls Team become the Runner-up and bought Silver Medal for the State in the final with Assam (5-1 goals).
Both the boys & girls teams performed well throughout the tournament. During the pool matches, the Boys team defeated Assam (4-3 goals), Bihar (12-1 goals), lost to Jharkhand (2-1 goals), Chhattisgarh tie (2-2 goals), and for the 3rd position, defeated Chhattisgarh (3-2 goals) and clinched 1st Runner-up trophy.
The Girls team defeated Jharkhand (2-1 goals), Bihar (8-0 goals), lost to Assam (7-1 goals) and in the final lost to Assam (5-1 goals) and clinched the Runners-up trophy.
The Odisha Boys team captain Pratik Arnav Jena scored the maximum number of 18 goals and was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’.
The trophy and medals were awarded by JRD Tata Sports Complex CEO Mukul Choudhary, Roll Ball Federation of India vice-president Manoj Yadav, Roll Ball East Zone Secretary Bhumidhar Burman, Jharkhand Roll Ball Association Secretary Chandeshwar Sahoo, and Odisha Roll Ball Association Founder Member Partha Sarathi Jena.
