12 dacoits arrested following confrontation with police in Odisha’s Sambalpur – N.F Times


Sambalpur: Twelve dacoits were arrested today by a police team following a loot bid and subsequent confrontation on Friday night at around 12.45 am, in which one of them sustained bullet injuries at a liquor off-shop near Kenghati village of Jayantpur under Sadar police limits in Sambalpur district.

The confrontation took place at the back side of Old Ice Factory in the locality, a cop specified.

The arrested dacoits are Banguri Mahesh (32), son of B Dandashi from RK Nagar Sweeper Colony under Rayagada police limits of this district, Prahallad Wadaki (19), son of Kirunga Wadaki from Pattamunda village under Narayanapatna police limits of Koraput, Chandan Jani (18), son of Bandra Jani from Jaliasahi under Rayagada police limits, Galapati Tilu (22), son of Galapati Enkete from Laxmipur under Laxmipur police limits of Koraput district, P Jagadish (18), son of P Giri from RK Nagar of Rayagada, Jira Huika (18), son of Kamlu Huika from Jogipali under Narayanapatna police limits of Koraput, Ramu Padi Huika (17), son of Pandu Huika from Jogipali under Narayanapatna PS, Padaka Iqubal (19), son of Srinu, Parvatipuram from Narispuram Road, Gopal Suna (18), son of Muna Suna from Railway Colony in Rayagada, Jacob (23) of Laxmipur, Binaya Ji (17), son of Late Appa Rao from Biharkatnam village of Parbatipuram and Jitu Sadriya (18), son of Gana Sadriya from Sundhisahi of Narayanapatna.

According to a police source, the 12 came to Sambalpur to commit a dacoity. Before this incident, they visited Sambalpur to locate the target place and on yesterday night they entered the liquor shop by breaking open its roof and looted cash of Rs 3,20,000 from the shop by assaulting a salesman with the help of a sharp weapon and threatening him at gunpoint.

Sadar PS case No-06 Dated 6.1.2024, U/s 395/397 IPC/ 25/27 of the Arms Act was registered in this connection and a probe was initiated.

Police have recovered and seized cash of Rs 3,20,000, two country-made pistols, two Bhujali, four numbers of big-size knives, and two iron rods from the possession of the dacoits.
