Villagers detain Forest officials over elephant menace in Odisha’s Sundargarh – N.F Times



Sundargarh: Villagers of Jakeikala under Bonai police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today detained three Forest officials over elephant menace in their area.

The locals alleged that the Forest Department was not taking adequate steps to drive away the animals. As a part of their protest, they blocked Bonai-Jangla road.

The villagers detained the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Ranger, and Forester when they arrived to take stock of the situation.

They also demanded suitable compensation for the damages caused to their properties and crops by the elephants.

As per information, two tuskers had damaged houses and crops in the locality, last night.
