Odisha doctor convicted in murder case over illicit affair – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: A court in Odisha’s Ganjam district has sentenced a doctor to life imprisonment for killing an agent of a private bank over an illicit affair in 2018.

The Ganjam Additional District Judge (ADJ)-3 Raj Kumar Das also imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on convict Hrushikesh Tripathy.

The court awarded two years of imprisonment to two of Tripathy’s aide in connection with the murder of Bishnu Prasad Gouda (45) on September 4, 2018.

As per the case records, the incident took place when Tripathy was posted at a hospital in Chhatrapur area of Ganjam.

Prior to the incident, Gouda was working in a private clinic of Tripathy at Goilundi in Berhampur. He was reportedly in a relationship with a nurse of the clinic.

A dispute arose between Gouda and Tripathy, who also had feelings for the nurse. Subsequently, Gouda quit his job at Tripathy’s clinic and jointed as an agent in a private bank. However, Gouda was in touch with the nurse despite repeated warnings by Tripathy.

Tripathy had killed Gouda in his clinic after making the latter unconscious by administering an injection and cut the body into several pieces.

Tripathy then carried the dismembered body parts to his native village Badagumula and buried them. He also constructed a toilet on the burial place to destroy the evidence.

Basing upon a missing complaint lodged by Gouda’s family, the police launched a probe and subsequently retrieved the bank agent’s body parts from Tripathy’s village.

The police later arrested Tripathy and two others in connection with the case and filed chargesheet against them in the court.
