Angul: An ASHA worker died after reportedly being run over by a truck on the National Highway-55 in Odisha’s Angul district today.
The deceased woman has been identified as Kumari Sahoo. She was working as an ASHA worker under Madhapur Community Health Centre (CHC) in Athamallik in Angul district.
According to reports, a speeding truck hit the ASHA worker near Thana Chhak while she was on her way back to Madhapur after admitting a pregnant woman at Angul District Headquarters Hospital in the wee hours today.
The truck allegedly ran over the ASHA worker, killing her on the spot.
Reacting to the incident, the locals blocked the National Highway-55 over poor road conditions that are causing frequent accidents.
