Doctor in ‘drunk’ state thrashed at Balangir Hospital in Odisha after patient’s death – N.F Times



Balangir: Tension ran high at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Balangir district last night as a doctor, who was allegedly in a drunk condition, got thrashed after a patient’s death at the healthcare facility.

According to information, a person of Kandhapalipara area in the district was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening.

At around 8 pm, his family members met the concerned nurses and asked them about the on-duty doctor, to which the nurses replied that the doctor was not available.

The patient’s kin waited for the doctor till 11 pm. Tragically, the patient allegedly died before the arrival of the doctor.

On reaching the hospital, the doctor, after being requested by the family members, checked the patient and declared him dead.

Moments later, the patient’s kin realised that the doctor was in an inebriated state while one of the family members started thrashing him.

The doctor was later rescued by the security guards.

The hospital authorities were yet to comment on the matter.
