Soro: In a crackdown, a bike theft gang was busted by Oupada police in Balasore. Police have arrested three persons including a web channel journalist in this connection, SP Sagarika Nath said today.
The arrested are the journo and key accused identified as 27-year-old Anand Pal and his two aides aged around 30 years.
According to the official source, Anand was conducting dacoity by writing ‘PRESS’ on his motorcycle. He had built his crime empire over the last several months. Oupada police was tipped off on January 27 that around 13 scooters and motorcycles were parked in front of the house of one Sashikant Behera from Badapokhari village in the district.
Swinging into action, the probe team raided the spot leading to the two-wheeler seizures and three arrests. Police recovered and seized at least 16 stolen scooters and six motorcycles from the possession of the accused persons.
Several cases are pending in different police stations at Baripada, Lalbagh, and Singla against the key accused Pal. Police have seized fake ID cards, a laptop, pen drives, and cash from his possession.
