Rajnagar: Tourists can have night stay facilities on cruises at Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha to experience luxury sailing inside the dense forest.
Four Catamaran Cruises funded by the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (ICZMP) are set to sail on Bhitarkanika waterways soon providing all luxury facilities for the tourists, informed DFO Sudarshan Gopinath Yadav.
The luxury cruises were brought in for Rs 6 crore 8 years ago. However, the project could not be functional. Therefore, the Tourism Department decided to use the cruises for tourism purposes. A Delhi-based company was given the charge to sail the cruises 20 months ago. While two Catamaran cruises have been docked at Gupti, another two will arrive soon, he said.
As per the agreement, the Delhi-based Heritage River Journeys Pvt Ltd will give Rs 5.20 lakh annually to the Tourism Department. The company will hire employees and make other arrangements. Each cruise can accommodate four people for a night stay.
