Bhubaneswar: In a jolt to the Odisha unit of Congress ahead of the elections, former Rajanagar MLA Anshuman Mohanty today resigned from the party.
Mohanty sent the resignation letter to Sarat Patnaik, President, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee. He also quit the post of Kendrapara District Congress Committee President.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of Congress party with immediate effect. This may also be treated as my resignation from the post of president of Kendrapara District Congress Committee,” the letter read.
However, he was yet to reveal the reason behind the resignation.
Mohanty was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2014 from Rajanagar constituency in Kendrapara district as he had defeated BJD’s Dhruba Sahoo.
