Ragging at MKCG Medical College: Four accused students banned from campus – N.F Times



Berhampur: The anti-ragging committee of the MKCG Medical College here has temporarily banned four students from the campus in connection with a ragging incident.

The four senior medical students had alleged involvement in assaulting and harassing a first year student of the medical college.

As per the decision of the authorities, fourth year students Stalin Mohapatra and Jyotiprakash Rout have been prohibited to enter the campus for two months. The duo was also asked to leave the hostel and not to attend classes during the period, said Santosh Kumar Mishra, Principal, MKCG Medical College.

Similarly, two other fourth year students Suryakant Nayak and Ramesh Sethi have been asked to leave hostel and not to attend classes for two weeks on charges of allowing ragging activities, he added.

Notably, the victim had sustained injuries on his face and neck after allegedly being thrashed by the accused students. The matter came to fore after the father of the victim lodged a complaint in this regard with the Baidyanathpur police.

As per the allegations, the incident took place on February 9 night when the student, a hostel inmate of the medical college, had gone to drop off two of his seniors after band rehearsal. While returning, some other senior students beat him up.
