Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stones for redevelopment of 554 railway stations and 1,500 ROB/RUB projects across the country on February 26.
The Railways will implement these projects with an expenditure of Rs 41,000 crore, sources said.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to lay foundation stones for 21 Amrit Bharat Railway Stations with a project cost of Rs 900 crore in Odisha, said Manoj Sharma, General Manger of East Coast Railway, at a press conference here today.
The list includes Bimlagarh, Jaroli, Rairangpur, Panposh, Balasore, Betnoti, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda Road, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Rayagada, Paralakhemundi, Koraput, Jeypore, Talcher, Raghunathpur, Paradeep, Kendujhargarh, Bhadrak, Belpahar and Brajarajnagar railway stations in Odisha, he added.
According to Sharma, the Prime Minister is scheduled to lay foundation stones for 22 Amrit Bharat Railway stations under the jurisdiction of East Coast Railway (ECoR), which also covers some parts of Andhara Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The Railways has sanctioned Rs 790 crore for this purpose.
The stations are: Naupada, Simhachalam, Bobbili, Srikakulam Road, Parvatipuram, Chipurupalle, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda Road, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Rayagada, Paralakhemundi, Koraput, Jeypore, Talcher, Raghunathpur, Paradeep, Kendujhargarh, Bhadrak, Araku, Kottavalasa and Ichachapuram.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay stones for at least 52 Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Road Under Bridges (RUB) projects in Odisha. The cumulative project cost for these projects stands at Rs1,420 crore. In the East Coast Railway zone alone, 30 ROB/RUBs are slated for development with an expenditure of Rs 1,288 crore.
The Amrit Bharat Railway station redevelopment project promises improved station accessibility, air concourse, wider Foot Over Bridge (FOB), waiting areas, toilet facilities, lift and escalator installations, and enhanced cleanliness. Passengers can also look forward to amenities such as free Wi-Fi, local product kiosks, executive lounges, and spaces for business meetings.
