Odisha: Widow brutally killed in Barang – N.F Times

Barang: A widow was brutally killed over an unknown reason at Godisahi village under Barang police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The deceased woman has been identified as Urmila Biswal (48). The body was found on the premises of her residence in the village in the morning today.

According to reports, the widow was murdered with a fatal weapon outside her house on Sunday night.

On receiving information, Barang police team reached the spot and initiated a probe into the murder case.

“We have approached a dog squad and scientific team for the investigation. The probe has been handed over to an Inspector rank officer of the Investigative Units on Crime Against Women (IUCAW). The case will be supervised by an officer in the rank of Additional DCP,” informed Swastik Panda, ACP in charge, Cuttack Zone 4.

“The prima facie suggested that the woman was attacked with a fatal weapon. One person is suspected to have been involved in the crime. However, we are investigating from every possible angle to crack the murder case. The exact cause of death will be ascertained after investigation report by the scientific team,” he further said.

However, known people are suspected to have been involved in the murder over property dispute, alleged the deceased woman’s son.

“I was in office when the incident occurred last night. Last, I had talked to my mother over phone at 9.49 pm. She inquired whether I have had my dinner. I received the call from my cousins today morning that someone had crushed my mother to death with a stone. The incident might have taken place between 11 pm or 12 am. A close people might have knocked the door at night knowing the fact that she was alone at home. When she opened the door, might have been attacked by 3-4 people and killed,” said Parthasarathy Biswal, son of the deceased woman.
