Modi Meets Veteran BJP Leaders Advani, Joshi After NDA Parliamentary Meeting – N.F Times


New Delhi: After attending the key NDA parliamentary party meeting on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi at their residence in Delhi.

His meetings with the top BJP leaders came as he scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu to present her the list of parliamentarians supporting him and stake claim to form the government.

Newly elected MPs of the BJP-led NDA today met at the old Parliament building to elect Modi as their leader, paving the way for him to take oath as the country’s PM for the third term. As the NDA leaders gathered at Parliament to name Modi as the alliance’s leader, Bihar CM Nitish and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu pledged their support to the Modi-led NDA government.

Earlier today, PM Modi addressed the Parliamentary meeting that elected him as the NDA leader. As the meeting began, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh proposed Narendra Modi’s name as the leader of the BJP and National Democratic Alliance in Lok Sabha. Senior members of the alliance like TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde, who vowed support to the NDA government, will join the PM for a meeting with President Murmu.

Modi will be sworn in as PM for the third time over the weekend. The NDA has 293 MPs, comfortably above the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and J P Nadda, have also been holding talks with BJP allies to work out an amicable formula for their share of representation in the new government.
