Jajpur: The driver and the helper of a tourist bus were killed and 13 passengers sustained critical injuries after the bus crashed into a cement-laden truck in Jajpur district on Saturday.
The mishap occurred when the bus was en route to Puri from Kolkata. At Kandhei chhak under Barchana police limits, it rammed into the truck.
As per initial reports, the condition of seven persons is said to be critical and they have been shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Sarat Patra, Inspector-In-Charge of Barchana Police Station said, ” The accident occurred around 3:45 am. After getting the information, the night patrol and NH patrolling team rushed to the spot along with police station staff. There were around 60 passengers on the bus.”
According to Patra, the bus had caught fire after the accident and immediately fire services department personnel were called and two bodies were pulled out.
