“PM Modi Would Have Lost to Priyanka in Varanasi”: Rahul Gandhi – N.F Times

Uttar Pradesh: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a dig at Prime Minister and said that had his sister Priyanka contested from Varanasi, PM Modi would have lost the constituency by at least 2-3 lakh votes.

Today congress organised a thanksgiving meeting, ‘Aabhaar Sabha’ in Rae Bareli expressing its gratitude to the voters for the party’s performance on the Rae Bareli and Amethi seats. Addressing the meeting Gandhi said, “Had Priyanka Gandhi contested LS polls from Varanasi, Narendra Modi would have lost by 2-3 lakh votes.”

“This time Congress party fought unitedly in Amethi, Raebarelli, Uttar Pradesh and across the country. I want to tell Samajwadi Party that this time your leaders fought unitedly with Congress leader,” added the Rae Bareli MP.

Rahul emerged victorious in the Rae Bareli constituency, while Kishori Lal Sharma won over former Union minister Smriti Irani in the Amethi seat.

Gandhi emphasized the solidarity exhibited by the Congress party and other political parties during the elections in Uttar Pradesh and throughout India. He acknowledged the joint efforts of the Samajwadi Party workers, who battled alongside Congress workers without any complaints or retreat.

In her short speech, Priyanka Gandhi also conveyed her appreciation to the voters of Amethi and Raebareli for their steadfast support in ensuring the party’s victory in those constituencies. “We have worked day and night to achieve these results. We are thankful to the people of Raebareli who ensured my brother’s (Rahul Gandhi) victory by voting for him. We pledge to work twice as hard and with utmost sincerity for the next five years, for the belief you have shown us,” she stated.
