Bhubaneswar: Sanjeev Chopra, an IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, has been assigned the additional responsibility of Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, during his central deputation.
A 1990 batch IAS officer, Chopra is currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of Food and Public Distribution at the Centre, and will now also oversee the Agriculture Department. This position became vacant following the appointment of Manoj Ahuja, another Odisha cadre IAS officer, as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha.
Similarly, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been given the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
In a related move, a 1988 batch IAS officer, Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary in the National Commission of Minorities. The Secretary of the Cabinet Committee on Appointments has released a notification regarding these changes.
