Khurda: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested a Revenue Inspector in Khurda district on Friday for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 bribe.
The accused has been identified as Bisweswar Ray Behera, RI, Siko, under Begunia Tahasil in Khurda district.
Behera has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant, threatening action against him otherwise for felling a tree on Govt land.
Finding no other way, the complt reported the matter before the Vigilance Authority. Accordingly, today, Behera, while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant, was nabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance. The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Behera and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations in Behera from a DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.13/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the accused.
