The Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Link Project (301Kms) achieved a major milestone as the Engineering Team of the ECoR Construction wing conducted a break through for a 700-meter-long escape tunnel from NH with the 4185-meter-long Tunnel in the Adhenigarh-Charichhak Section under deep reserve forest of Madhapur Forest Range of Boudh District.
Out of the total 301 kilometres of the Khurda Road-Balangir project, 152.805 kilometres have been commissioned. The Railways has been constructing this line from both sides, i.e., Khurda Road and Balangir, to ensure the project’s early completion.
Till now, 105.8 kilometres from Khurda Road to Daspalla and 47 kilometres from Balangir to Sonepur have been commissioned.
Apart from this, Sonepur to Jharmunda, a distance of 28.765Kms has also been completed. The segment from Sonepur to Purunakatak, covering about 73 kilometres, is expected to be completed within the next few months.
The Khurda Road-Balangir project emphasised the importance of completing the construction within the targeted timeline. This public-centric project, which spans remote areas, is closely monitored by the Ministry of Railways.
To speed up the work and in view of targeting early completion of the project, Railways is constructing this project from both sides.
