Srinagar: Eight family members, including five children, died as their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a gorge in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, said the officials.
A policeman, two women, and five children ranging in age from six to sixteen were among those deceased, officials reported.
The family was en route from Kishtwar to Marwah via Sinthan Top when their vehicle slipped off the road and descended into a gorge at Daksum, officials stated.
The vehicle was found to be completely wrecked post-accident. All eight family members died instantly at the scene, it was reported.
Following the accident, police arrived at the location and retrieved the bodies. A case has been registered, and the incident is under investigation.
