Paris: India’s Manu Bhaker remains in contention for an unprecedented third medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics as she advanced to the final of the women’s 25m pistol event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre on Friday.
At 22, Bhaker scored a total of 590, securing second place in the qualification round, just behind Hungary’s Veronika Major, who tied the Olympic record with 592. Bhaker shot 294 in the precision stage, placing third, and improved to 296 in the rapid stage, securing her spot in the final.
Bhaker is poised to make history by becoming the first Indian to win three medals in a single Olympics if she succeeds in the final on Saturday.
Esha Singh, another Indian competitor in the women’s 25m pistol, concluded her Olympic journey after finishing 18th in the qualifiers.
The 19-year-old from Hyderabad recorded scores of 291 in the precision stage and 290 in the rapid stage, totalling 581 in her Olympic debut.
