Annually, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) introduce a variety of emerging courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, or certification levels.

IIT Madras

Continuing its tradition from the previous year, IIT Madras has once again introduced a range of courses designed to bolster students’ skills in burgeoning sectors. Announced on March 15, 2024, the courses cover Artificial Intelligence, Applied Data Science, Backend Development using Java Spring Boot, Cyber Security Analysis, and Android App Development with Kotlin and Flutter.

These programs are tailored to satisfy the industry’s escalating need for specialized expertise and are offered via the SWAYAM Plus platform, each with its own set of eligibility requirements.

Furthermore, IIT Madras presents certificate programs targeting professionals and students eager to enhance their knowledge. These include the Fundamentals of EVs and Charging Infrastructure (five months), Premier Banking (six months), Banking and Finance (three months), Mutual Funds (three months), Securities Operations and Risk Management (three months), and Digital Banking (three months). Typically, these courses necessitate a pertinent bachelor’s degree or professional experience, offering significant qualifications for career progression.

IIT Delhi

IIT Delhi has introduced a new two-year MTech programme in Robotics, tailored for engineering graduates holding a valid GATE score. The curriculum is centred on cutting-edge robotics technologies, equipping students for the automation and intelligent systems industry. Applications are accepted via the IIT Delhi admissions portal.

Additionally, the institute has launched an MSc in Biological Sciences, also spanning two years. This programme is designed to impart extensive knowledge and research proficiency in the biological sciences. Candidates must possess a relevant bachelor’s degree meeting a prescribed minimum percentage to be eligible.

IIT Kanpur

IIT Kanpur has launched an MTech program in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Engineering. This two-year course is open to BE or BTech graduates who have a valid GATE score. The curriculum encompasses the design, development, and deployment of UAS technologies, providing students with advanced skills in this burgeoning field.

The institute also provides a certificate program in Full Stack Development – MERN Stack, which is a three-month course aimed at undergraduates and graduates keen on mastering web development with the MERN stack.

In addition, there is an MTech in Cognitive Systems, a two-year course available to graduates from various engineering and science backgrounds, holding a valid GATE score, that delves into cognitive science and AI applications.

Another offering is the MTech in Data Science, a two-year program that concentrates on data analytics, machine learning, and big data technologies. This program requires applicants to have a relevant bachelor’s degree and a GATE score for admission.

IIT Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur offers a two-year MTech programme in Artificial Intelligence for graduates holding a valid GATE score, providing advanced knowledge in AI technologies. Additionally, the institute provides a three-month certificate programme in Hands-on Artificial Intelligence for Real-World Applications, designed to impart practical AI skills to those with a bachelor’s degree or current students.

IIT Gandhinagar has broadened its academic portfolio with new programmes in Engineering Physics, Space Science and Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. The Engineering Physics programme integrates physics with engineering to innovate for high-tech sectors. The Space Science and Engineering programme is centred on astrophysics, planetary science, and space technology, grooming students for space research careers. The Mathematics and Computing program merges mathematics and computer science, focusing on algorithms, data analysis, and computational modelling. These programmes are accessible to students with a valid JEE Advanced score and who have completed Class 12 in the relevant subjects.
