Sundargarh: A pregnant woman and her eight-year-old son were tragically killed when an elephant demolished their home, causing part of it to collapse on them. Additionally, the woman’s three daughters suffered severe injuries from the collapse.
According to initial reports, the woman’s husband is a migrant worker in Bengaluru. The woman and her four young children were sleeping when the elephant, which had wandered into their village, destroyed their home, resulting in their immediate deaths late Tuesday night.
The victims have been identified as Sukanti and her son Sukhanath. This devastating event occurred in Balijhudi village, within the Barsuan forest range of Koida in the Sundargarh district.
The three injured children are currently receiving treatment at Rourkela General Hospital (RGH), where they are in critical condition. With their father away in Bengaluru and their mother deceased, the children are left without anyone to care for them at the hospital.
