Berhampur: The death toll in the Chikiti hooch case rose to two after one more person succumbed to death on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at MKCG MCH in Berhampur of Ganjan district.
As per sources, Lokanath Behera alias Malla breathed his last this afternoon while another Jur Behera died Tuesday midnight. Reportedly, among the rest victims, the health condition of 10 is stated to be stable but two more are still battling for life.
Around 20 to 25 people from Karbalua village of Chikiti block of Ganjam district consumed spurious country-made liquor at Moundpur village. After returning home, they suddenly fell ill due to stomach ache, dizziness and vomiting.
Initially, they were taken to Chikiti Hospital for treatment and later doctors shifted 14 patients in critical condition to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur.
