Queens: Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in connection with a double murder in Queens, New York. The incident occurred on November 2, when Aliya allegedly set fire to a two-story garage, resulting in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs (35), and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne (33).
According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Aliya arrived at the garage early in the morning and shouted, “You’re all going to die today,” before setting the building ablaze. Jacobs, who was sleeping upstairs, and Ettienne, who attempted to save him, were both trapped and succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
Aliya Fakhri has been charged with multiple counts of first and second-degree murder, as well as arson. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9.
Nargis Fakhri, known for her role in the film “Rockstar,” has not yet commented on the incident. The Fakhri family has expressed shock and disbelief, with Aliya’s mother attributing her behavior to struggles with opioid addiction following a dental mishap.
