Umbrella Street in Patihani has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. Located near the Rapti River and Chitwan National Park, the street is frequently filled with visitors taking photos and recording TikTok videos while relaxing beneath the colorful umbrellas.
The ‘Umbrella Street’ infrastructure was developed last year with an investment of 18.6 million rupees in Patihani, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-22, after authorities recognized the area as a new tourist attraction. Bishnu Mahato, the Ward Chairperson, estimated that around 4,300 people visited Umbrella Street on a Saturday alone. The entry fee is set at Rs 20 per person.
The number of domestic visitors to Umbrella Street continues to rise, with tourists coming from Pokhara, Kathmandu, Gorkha, Biratnagar, and Chitwan, as well as from other districts.
# Pokhara’s Umbrella Street
Pokhara’s Umbrella Street, located at the entrance gate of Skate Park in Buddha Chowk-10, is another popular spot for film and TikTok creators. The street features tables on the right side, where visitors can enjoy coffee or tea with friends and family. The area attracts many locals, especially on Saturdays, and has designated ‘No Smoking Zone’ and bike parking signs. A photo zone with a ceiling swing is also available for visitors. This Umbrella Street offers a scenic view of Phewa Lake, where tourists can enjoy boating or paragliding. Additionally, there is a man-made half-moon area for visitors to relax and take beautiful photos.

Located in Patihani, near the Rapti River, Chitwan’s Umbrella Street is the first of its kind in Nepal. This popular tourist spot offers stunning views of wildlife from Chitwan National Park. Situated near the New Road Gate, just a 5-minute walk from the old bus park, Kathmandu’s Umbrella Street was created by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Ward No.22 office in collaboration with the Sankata Club. Over 400 multicolored umbrellas hang above the road, attracting a large number of locals every day. It has quickly become a popular spot for TikTok creators and social media influencers. The vibrant display of umbrellas has made it a hit on social media soon after its installation.
