Three Critically Injured in Head-On Bus–Hyva Collision Amid Dense Fog in Odisha

Redhakhol: At least three persons were critically injured in a head-on collision between a night coach bus and an ash-laden Hyva truck on the Redhakhol–Boudh road in the early hours of Tuesday. The accident occurred near Pandakimal Chouri Square, reportedly due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

According to sources, the night coach bus named Agni was travelling from Berhampur to Rourkela when it collided head-on with the Hyva truck, which was en route from Jharsuguda to Boudh. The impact of the collision caused the Hyva truck to lose control and overturn off the road.

The driver and helper of the Hyva truck sustained serious injuries, while one passenger travelling on the bus suffered minor injuries. All the injured were immediately rescued and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Other passengers on board the bus were safely evacuated without injury.

The accident took place at around 1:30 am. Upon receiving information, Redhakhol Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Traffic movement in the area was briefly affected following the mishap.
