Jajpur: KCC Sunguda emerged champions of the Swapneswar Premier League Cricket Tournament, organised by the Swapneswar Club at Batijoda under Mahisara panchayat in Odisha’s Jajpur district, after registering a convincing win over MCC Jarka in the final.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, KCC Sunguda piled up 248 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 18 overs. Utkal Keshari Raut starred with a blistering 76 off 31 balls, setting the tone for a commanding total. Chasing the target, MCC Jarka managed 197 for seven, despite a fighting 55-run knock by Satyasagar. Sunguda’s Debashish Maharana delivered a match-winning spell, claiming five wickets.
Raut was adjudged Man of the Match in the final, while Badri was named Player of the Tournament for consistent performances throughout the competition.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo, MLA of Dharamsala, who presented the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of ₹30,000 to KCC Sunguda. The runners-up, MCC Jarka, received a trophy and ₹20,000.
Several local representatives and community leaders were present at the event. Organisers and members of the Swapneswar Club were lauded for smooth conduct of the tournament, which drew enthusiastic participation from players and spectators across the region.
