Soro:<\/strong> A woman has been eking out her living by begging for alms, and unfortunately, she is a councillor of Soro Notified Area Council (NAC) in Balasore district.<\/p>\n According to a source, the woman identified as Durga Singh is a people\u2019s representative from Ward No-7 under the civic limits. Durga sleeps at night on the verandah of other persons. She neither has a pucca house of her own nor a patch of land. The welfare schemes of the government seem not to have reached her yet. She has been living in penury for the past several years.<\/p>\n \u201cI have been temporarily residing in Parmela slum. I am an illiterate and poor woman but do not want to complain against anyone. Rather, I would like to request the Government to give me a pucca house. My husband is a drunkard man and does not give even a rupee to manage the household expenses,\u201d the local people\u2019s representative expressed.<\/p>\n \u201cI have two small kids who are dependent on me. I have been begging for alms and hardly I get two to three kilograms of rice or up to a maximum of Rs 50 in a day,\u201d the poor woman said.<\/p>\n \u201cAlthough I have been managing the family with much difficulty, I badly need a house,\u201d Durga added.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
