As per the article, \u201cThis species is distinct from its congeners by a combination of characteristics: relatively small eyes, its diameter 6.6\u20138.4 in head length; robust and long snout, 2.0\u20132.6 in head length; eye diameter 2.7\u20134.1 in snout length; cephalic sensory pore system interrupted with eight pores; predorsal scales 13\u201315; longitudinal scale series 55\u201358; gill rakers 2 + 1 + (6\u20137) on first gill arch; teeth small, conical and in a single row on the upper jaw and multiserial (2\u20133) on the lower jaw.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new species holds high commercial value in its locality and needs special conservation attention for sustainable utilisation,\u201d the article added.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Seth said there is need of more research regarding the species, which will result in collection of better data.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script>(function(d, s, id) {\n    var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];\n    if (d.getElementById(id)) return;\n    js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;\n    js.src = \"\n    fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);\n  }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/>[ad_2]<br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1] &#13; &#13; &#13; Bhubaneswar: Researchers of Zoology Department of the Berhampur University have discovered a new species of fish in Mahanadi river in Odisha\u2019s Sonepur district.
