Rourkela : A Dragon Fruit cultivation unit was inaugurated at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant\u2019s Institute for Peripheral Development, Sector – 20 recently by Mr. Atish Sarkar, CGM (Quality) in the presence of Prof. Rohan Dhiman, Registrar (NIT-R). The project is a part of the \u2018Waste to Wealth\u2019 programme undertaken in association with National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. Present on the occasion were Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM (CSR), Mr. D. Pradhan, DGM (CSR), Mr. A Pati, Senior Manager (CSR), Prof. (Dr.) Rama Pradhan, NIT-R and other officers and staff of both the institutions.The cultivation unit is meant for hands on education of women farmers of peripheral villages for whom the project has been suitably designed. This is one of the very early initiatives undertaken in Sundargarh District for growth and propagation of this cash rich product which thrives very well in arid and semi arid conditions.
\nIt may be noted that the CSR Deptt of RSP and NIT, Rourkela have jointly taken up the \u2018Waste to Wealth\u2019 for four years as per the MOU signed in May 2021. The project aims at training 700 small women farmers from peripheral villages in Organic Farming technique and Smart and Sustainable farming methods. The project also includes RSP\u2019s support for Research in this area as per the initiatives already implemented in the CSR campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
