{"id":1466,"date":"2022-10-12T11:37:12","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T11:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenftimes.com\/?p=1466"},"modified":"2022-10-12T11:37:12","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T11:37:12","slug":"mulayam-singh-yadav-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenftimes.com\/index.php\/2022\/10\/12\/mulayam-singh-yadav-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"Mulayam Singh Yadav dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW DELHI (SUBHASHIS MITTRA): Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP), passed away on October 10 at a private hospital in Gurugram.<\/p>\n<p>Yadav, 82, was undergoing treatment for multiple health issues.<\/p>\n<p>The news of Mulayam Singh Yadav&#8217;s death was confirmed through Samajwadi Party&#8217;s official Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Yadav as he hailed his &#8220;remarkable personality&#8221;. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, &#8220;Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji was a remarkable personality. He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people\u2019s problems. He served people diligently and devoted his life towards popularising the ideals of Loknayak JP and Dr. Lohia.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yadav, also known as \u2018Netaji\u2019 among his followers and party workers, is survived by Akhilesh Yadav, who is currently the SP chief and also a former chief minister of UP. Akhilesh is the son of the SP patriarch&#8217;s first wife Malti Devi, who died in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>The veteran politician was admitted to Medanta Hospital on August 22. Yadav had been on life-saving drugs due to his extremely critical condition in the last few days. <\/p>\n<p>However, after his condition deteriorated, he was put on ventilator and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospital on October 2. He was being treated by a &#8220;comprehensive team of specialists\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Medanta Hospital, Mulayam Singh Yadav had serious lung and kidney issues. He had reportedly been facing difficulties in breathing and also went through dialysis for his kidney problems.<\/p>\n<p>The SP patriarch had been suffering from various health-related ailments for the past three years and his public appearance had been restricted in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Yadav was serving as the Member of Parliament from the Mainpuri constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He had served as the state&#8217;s chief minister thrice &#8211; from 1989-1991, 1993-1995 and 2003-2007. <\/p>\n<p>He also held the post of Defence Minister from 1996-1998. He had been elected to the UP legislative assembly ten times and seven times as Lok Sabha MP.<\/p>\n<p>Mulayam Singh Yadav won his first election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1967.
